Swensen’s Restaurant has opened in South India’s Mantri Square Mall on June 10, 2010. Through a franchise model in partnership with RJ Group, this opening marks Swensen’s entry into the Rs 1,300 crore Indian branded ice cream market. RJ Group firm Devyani International Limited President Virag Joshi said they will open another 5 stores in three months – four in Bangalore and one in Delhi International Airport. In total, 80 restaurants are scheduled to open across South India over the next 5 years.
Swensen’s is not just your average ice cream shop. Over the years, it has carved a name for itself as being the restaurant to dine at for delicious grilled sandwiches, gourmet burgers, mega melts, shakes, sundaes, parfaits, and its signature ice cream with over 180 flavors created since its first store opened in 1948. Swensen’s (Thai) Limited Managing Director Peter King said: “Swensen’s is not just about eating ice cream its about experience that we offer through our staff and the ambience. We sell one of the best sundaes.”
